Scott Evan Freeman was exposed to music at a very early age.  Growing up in Battle Ground, IN, he developed a love for traditional acoustic music through a local music festival literally in his backyard.  He gravitated toward Bluegrass music because of the driving rhythms and lonesome vocal harmonies.

A veteran of thirty-five plus years in the music industry, he was the founding member of the  award-winning  Bluegrass band, Classified Grass, featuring then a thirteen year old fiddler named Alison Krauss.  Scott has played with or recorded with the likes of Chris Thile, Jason Mowery, Jeff Guernsey, Scott Risner, Kenny Stone and many others.  He has won multiple competitions and awards including the 1999 National Hammer Dulcimer championship in Winfield, KS.  He has recorded and produced numerous projects including five solo records and one with his jazz ensemble, The New Acoustic Quintet.  After thirty-one years as an air traffic controller, Scott recently retired and  is looking forward to spending more time with the newly formed Ouibache Music Festival.  The festival promotes traditional and contemporary roots music and is dedicated to preserving music education in the local elementary and middle schools.

Scott is a member of the Covenant Church worship band and lives in Lafayette, IN with his wife, Jolene.
